British Phone Booth
They seem to be spread out all over the world - here is Wiesbaden's version of a British phone booth.
Also check out the ones here:
Chattanooga, TN, USA
Dijon, France
(If you have/had a photo of a British phone booth on your blog as well, please send me your link - I'd be happy to include it here in this list!)

Does it take the old ten pence pieces?
no phone booths like that here in the islands - in fact, I don't even think we have a phonebooth like that type where its enclosed - to the first person that can prove me wrong, I owe you a free bag of hawaiian kona coffee and t-shirt from my canoe kayak team! hehe I'm 99.99% sure we have none.
I've always liked these RED phone booths. I took photos of them when I was touring the UK. Makes nice photo with the red and b & w. Good job.
Well, now I have red phone booth envy. I KNOW we don't have one in my neighborhood.
I had a friend who took pictures of phone booths in every country he visited. I have no idea what he's up to now. Seems to have fallen off the face of the earth.
same design ! ..well maintained :)
Great find! Beutiful old phone boot, and very nice photo!
These booths are perfect for a great picture. You have a chosen a good subject, great. This one must be working unlike the Chatanooga one, I guess.
I have photos of those red booth when we visited London last year, but haven't put them on my blog yet. They're such an icon, wonderful...but now it's an era of cellphones so no need for phone booth anymore :-) Well..maybe next week sometimes I'll post them up, but then it'll be too late for this post :-P Never mind then.
We have that reds and white too, hmm.. ok i know! i'll find the white one post it!
bob - I'm afraid there is no phone inside...
pamela - that's true. I think even in the UK you don't find them too often anymore. Well, no wonder, since they were all exported ;).
nicholas - ok, next time I'm in Honolulu, I'll go looking for them ;).
jill - I agree, like the red color as well.
natalie - that's an interesting idea, too.
fotoaddict - yes, it's in a good shape but without the phone.
seesaw - thank you!
carlos - I'm afraid not... no phone inside...
maya - I can still update it later, no problem...
nuno - oh, that'll be interesting. Never seen them in white...
Tena koe ehoa
I find it interesting how much variation of the "Red Phone Booth" there is. We have them here in Aotearoa although they're not mainstream forms of telecommunication they are still used in some remote areas where advancement of technology is still yet to arrive. That being said the ratio of these booths still being used is very minute.
Most of the maintained booths are historical timepeices of a previous telecommunications age now and as such only reside in museums. I'll keep an eye-out and send you a link for any I find.
Cool how you did the black and white and then just the red phone booth!
Really nice!
I remember the red photo booths from when we lived in Germany so many years ago (92-94)..I loved them then, and still do. Now I'll have to be on the look out for closed up phone booths... around here they seem to be taking even the non-enclosed phone booths out.. it's the way of the cel-phone mostly.
Yes, there are so many all over the world, they must have farmed them out when they retired them. The public phones seem like they are left in disrepair once they fail, these days, I think this is to make people want to keep their cell phones even more than they do already...
Lucy
nice, I will be on lookout if we have them here..,which I doubt!
Where is Dr. Who when you need him? O wait, he used a police call box.
ndigniz - our regular ones look different as well. Unfortunately, I don't know how this one came to Wiesbaden. It stand in front of the office of an internation rental car agency. Maybe they had something to do with it...
sam - thank you!
jenni - yes, cell phones really take over, don't they. But I'm still happy that, when I forgot to reload the battery of my cell phone once again, there are still public phones available.
lucy - you're right, that might be their strategy. Especially nowadays, where the try to be as cost effective as possible, phone booth are probably just an extra cost factor to maintain.
midnitebara - you never know ;).
fraser - haha, you're right. This one might be out of a movie ;).
