Any mail for me?

This is how mail delivery works in Wiesbaden. The mailmen or mailwomen wearing the Deutsche Post uniform (dark blue with yellow) have these carts for their mail. In some towns in the Rheingau I noticed that they actually drive around with a car now and also deliver the parcels and larger packages, not only mail anymore. In Wiesbaden that's still seperated.

Are they the ones who bring the bills?

In the U.S. we don't have any yellow, just the blue. In some areas they do have carts similar to this but, most mail is delivered by the mailperson from a van.

Mark

There's something about this that makes it soooo great. You have a way of taking an average looking thing and making a great shot. Nice!

Its also the perspective. Quite a hill there, so it seems.

I love the old conservatory windows at the front of the houses. I have a lot of plants - with those I could have far more. There are houses like that in Montréal, but I get the impression that many more are like that in Wiesbaden. Have they kept that architecture at all in newer buildings? I remember a photo of a home for old people in the area with such nice conservatory windows.

Thank you all for your comments! Always appreciated :).

fotoaddict - hope you get lots of mail from back home! :)

karine - yes, I think they have the same style.

bob - yes, unfortunately. But they also bring the postcards from friends, loveletters, and other good news. :)

ggraph - that sounds similar to here then. Thanks for sharing!

jill - Thank you very much!

lagatta - I'm afraid most of the new houses don't have that style anymore. Nowadays they try to use space as efficient as possible in appartment buildings. Too bad.

sebastian - thank you!

grainofsand - whenever you're in Germany just look for that yellow - that's how you'll find the mailboxes.

ynnette - Vielen Dank für Deine Besuche! Freue mich, dass es Dir hier gefällt!! Bin immer dankbar für Feedback und Anregungen - also raus damit :).

sidney - oh, I think she was just making sure that she got the right packages to deliver and I caught her in that moment. :)

Its an informative image and prologue that gives me insight into the normal day activities of people/workers in Wiesbaden. Love the street incline.
Not too dissimilar from the postal service in Aotearoa. It is readily acceptable for posties to use a low "cc" rated motorbike or scooter, a part from that most city deliveries are done by bicycle.
In the rural areas such as where I am the posties are contracted to provide the service, most use a delivery van as their transport of choice.
