Tegut - Bio-Supermarket

Today's City Daily Photo Blogger theme is "Supermarkets". Since my friend Maya is always interested in "green" developments, I decided to post a photo of a Bio-Supermarket for her. Tegut is nearly like a "regular" supermarket - only with bio products though. They have a very good fresh vegetable and fruit section and I especially like their meat and fish section! By now they've opened 310 supermarkets, last year they made 1.03 billion Euros revenue and continue with their success. :) I didn't have time to take photos inside, but next time I go, I'll show you some photos, promised.

Very interesting - I assume there is also bicycle parking, close to the building!

I'll definitely look at the website to study everyday words in German.

We have several bio producers at the Jean Talon market here now, not only vegetables, breads and groceries but also meats and some fish. When you visit Canada, you'll have to try bison and caribou!

these bio markets seem to be getting popular - we have a small one here but the food is so expensive, i think that is the way to lose weight - buy less food with more money so you end up not buying and eating as much =P

Hahaha agree with Kala...that seems to be the idea there! Less money to spend...less food you will buy =)

Wow! Thanks so much, Nicola :-) Tegut is really like Biocoop France, where they have around the same numbers of supermarkets now all over France. I know Germany is more advanced than France when it comes to Bio and Fair Trade movements.

Is it located very close to you? how many minutes drive for you when you need to go there? For me the closest Biocoop is 5min drive, so it's great...:-)

Thanks again, Nicola...

Lagatta - yes, they have bicicly parking there as well. And there is also a bus stop right next to it as well.

Nicholas & Anne - you're right, a lot of bio products are more expensive than the "regular" ones. I guess, that's the price you'll have to pay when it's not mass production.

Gudrun - there is one on Dotzheimer Str. and this one is at the Rheingau Str (Schierstein). They are also planning one at the new shopping center next to the Wiesbaden Hbf. None in the Rheingau so far...

Maya - you're welcome! :) Unfortunately, this one is not really close and I'll have to drive there by car. But I like to go there for meat and fish!
